Casco Antiguo ODÓN DE BUEN

At Casco A ntiguo Oceanografía, we have had the privilege of equipping the ODÓN DE BUEN vessel, built at Astilleros Armon Vigo, with state-of-the-art technology that will facilitate oceanographic research. Below is a summary of the equipment supplied, each piece designed to optimise the collection of high-precision marine data.

ADCP Doppler current meters

We installed two Teledyne RDI Ocean Surveyor acoustic Doppler current meters (ADCP), 38 KHz and 150 KHz, on the hull of the vessel. These devices profile currents at depth, providing real-time water flow data for marine dynamics studies.

Scientific Multiparameter Weather Station

The Vaisala AWS430 station includes sensors for atmospheric pressure, temperature, solar radiation, relative humidity, and wind. This data is transmitted in real time via Ethernet and integrated into the ship's data acquisition system.

Ferrybox System for Surface Water Monitoring

The Ferrybox 4H-JENA system allows continuous monitoring of surface water parameters such as temperature, salinity, and dissolved oxygen, with advanced sensors for CDOM, pH, and a particle cytometer for detailed analysis of biological compounds.

Gravimeter with Gyrostabilised Platform

The installed gravimeter has a gyrostabilised platform for accurate collection of gravimetric data at any latitude. Its modular design allows for stability in motion and ease of transport.

HYDROBIOS Multinet Maxi System

The HYDROBIOS Multinet Maxi sampler has nine nets for collecting water samples from different layers. This system allows particles and organisms to be collected with different mesh sizes depending on the requirements of the study.

Moving Vessel Profiler (MVP)

The MVP200 profiling system from AML Oceanographic allows continuous CTD (conductivity, temperature and depth) and sound velocity profiles to be obtained while the vessel is travelling at speeds of up to 12 knots, without the need to stop.

pCO2 Measurement System

For surface CO2 monitoring, General Oceanics' Model 8060 pCO2 analytical system continuously measures CO2 partial pressure using a Licor 7815 analyser, which is essential for studies of dissolved gases and climate change.

LIDAR Laser Scanner

The VOYIS laser scanner provides bathymetry data and detects small objects on the seabed. This enables detailed underwater mapping, which is key to geomorphological and topographical studies.

Diving Container with Air Compressor

The diving container equipped with a COLTRI compressor allows for safe and efficient refilling of bottles, which is essential for underwater operations in scientific missions.

With these systems, the ODÓN DE BUEN becomes an advanced research platform, boosting oceanographic analysis capabilities. At Casco Antiguo, we remain committed to developing cutting-edge technological solutions for the advancement of marine science.
