Nansen Closing Net Vertically operated oceanographic closing net
The Nansen Closing Net features a remotely triggered mechanism constricting the bag during ascent to sample defined depth layers. Its net bag is composed of three stages: An open-weave multifilament polyester filter fabric at the upper third, 100 µm polyamide mesh fabric at the middle section, and 55 µm polyamide mesh fabric at the lower third. It includes a weighted stainless steel lower end frame ensuring stable and speedy descent.
The net supports a forward-counting-only (i.e. not during descent) Mechanical Flow Meter (optional) placed into the centre of the inlet aperture measuring the water volume filtered.
For easy retrieval the sample is concentrated inside of a rigid PVC bucket featuring an integrated window covered with corresponding mesh fabric. The bucket is attached to the net bag by three quickly released over-centre fasteners.
In case differing combinations of meshes are required kindly be referred to our sales department. Available mesh sizes range from 10 µm to 1,000 µm.
