WP3 Closing Net
Vertically operated oceanographic closing net

Like its smaller WP2 version the WP3 Closing Net features a remotely triggered mechanism constricting the bag during ascent to sample defined depth layers. It includes a weighted stainless steel lower end frame ensuring stable and speedy descent.

The net supports a forward-counting-only (i.e. not during descent) Mechanical Flow Meter (optional) placed into the centre of the inlet aperture measuring the water volume filtered.

For easy retrieval the sample is concentrated inside of a rigid PVC bucket featuring an integrated window covered with corresponding mesh fabric. The bucket is attached to the net bag by three quickly released over-centre fasteners.

The standard mesh size of a WP3 Closing net is 200 µm, available mesh sizes range from 100 µm to 1,000 µm.
