0.3m Data Buoy
OSIL’s Rapid Deployment Buoy is a cheap, quick and easy way to ensure constant and immediate data collection when other systems are out of action, or where an environmental situation requires monitoring.
The 30cm diameter data buoy is designed to alert users to unexpected rises in water quality parameters. Its compact size and weight make it ideal for one person to handle in the field, and its single point mooring makes for easy deployment and recovery.
Manufactured using a hard anodised marine grade aluminium hull, the Rapid Deployment Buoy is built with a central deployment frame designed to safely accommodate a turbidity sensor, multiparameter sonde or similar instrument, while providing protection from collision damage.
Designed for deployments of up to 1 month, the Rapid Deployment Buoy carries sufficient batteries to power instrumentation, telemetry (GSM/GPRS/3G) and a data logger. Weighing just 15 kg and having a total length of 1.5m, this buoy is easy for one person to handle and deploy.
0.6m Data Buoy
OSIL’s Inshore Monitoring Buoy is a cheap, quick and easy way to ensure constant and immediate data collection when other systems are out of action, or where an environmental situation requires immediate monitoring (such as the potential release of hydrocarbons).
The buoy is designed for quick deployment in sheltered coastal and inshore areas. Its size and weight make it ideal for one person to handle in the field, and its single point mooring makes for easy deployment and recovery. These data buoys are well suited to mobile dredge plume monitoring as the buoys can be picked up and re-positioned wherever dredging activity is taking place.
Manufactured using a rotationally moulded polyethylene hull, the Inshore Monitoring Buoy is built with a central structure designed to safely accommodate sensors, such as a multiparameter sonde, turbidity sensor, or similar instrument, while providing protection from collision damage.
The Inshore Monitoring Buoy carries up to four 14W solar panels with battery back up, and a GPRS enabled data logger. Weighing 35 kg and having a total length of 1.8m, this buoy is easy to handle and deploy.
1.2m Data Buoy (Tern)
The Tern data buoy is designed for extended deployment in harsh coastal environments in deeper water depths, and is suitable for all applications, including scientific studies, water quality monitoring, coastal engineering projects, harbour and coastal monitoring, and maritime traffic control.
The buoy system is extremely robust, with all instrumentation and cables held internally, protected by the rugged enclosed top section, which has been designed to minimise damage from the elements or interference. All sensors are secured within a central structure which offers good water flow for water quality sensors, while also providing a very high degree of protection for valuable, sensitive, or delicate equipment. The platform also offers a higher visibility profile, easily seen in high-traffic areas.
The versatile 1.2m platform has approximately 400kg net buoyancy, and is supplied with a range of sensors that can be specified by the customer (including CTD, DO, pH/ORP, Turbidity, Chlorophyll, Rhodamine, current speed/direction, as well as a GPS locator).
All buoys are fitted with solar panels, battery back up, navigation/warning lights (IALA Standard Lamp) and other markings as necessary (St Andrews cross, Internal Radar Reflector etc.).
A range of telemetry options are available (UHF/VHF, GSM, GPRS, Satellite), selected to suit both the location and application requirements.
OSIL provide a complete data telemetry solution, including either desk top or web-based software packages to access the data.
1.9m Metocean Buoy (Fulmar)
OSIL’s Fulmar Buoy is a versatile instrumentation platform ideally suited for collection and measurement of oceanographic, meteorological (metocean) and water quality data parameters in inshore coastal areas, as well as open water applications.
Instrumentation can be deployed anywhere from near surface to the seabed. The data buoys can be moored in a fixed position with either single point, dual point or compliant mooring (where required).
The system is supplied with a range of sensors that can specified by the customer (including CTD, DO, pH/ORP, Turbidity, Chlorophyll, Rhodamine, current speed/direction, wind speed/direction, temperature, humidity, pressure, rainfall, and solar radiation as well as a GPS locator). All buoys are fitted with solar panels, navigation/warning lights and other markings as necessary. A range of telemetry options are available (UHF/VHF, GSM, GPRS, Satellite), selected to suit both the location and application requirements. OSIL provide a complete data telemetry solution, including either desk top or web-based software packages to access the data.
The buoys are 1.9 m in diameter, with a total buoyancy of 2000 kg, and have a reserve buoyancy of 1000 kg after fitting the equipment such as solar panels, battery packs and monitoring instrumentation, etc.
The OSIL range of buoys are manufactured using rotationally moulded polyethylene hulls, which are foam filled for added security. The hulls are constructed around a galvanised steel or welded polyethylene central structure, which has a large hole through the centre which allows the passage of instrumentation and cables from the tower down through the water column to the seabed. By utilising a ‘Moon Pool’, instrumentation in the centre of the buoy is well protected from damage during deployment and operation.
2.6m Metocean Buoy (Skua)
OSIL’s Skua Buoy is a versatile instrumentation platform ideally suited for collection and measurement of oceanographic, meteorological (metocean) and water quality data parameters in open water applications, as well as inshore coastal areas.
Instrumentation can be deployed anywhere from near surface to the seabed. The data buoys can be moored in a fixed position with either single point, dual point or compliant mooring (where required).

OSIL provide a complete data telemetry solution, including either desk top or web-based software packages to access the data.
The buoys are 2.6 m in diameter, with a total buoyancy of 5700 kg, and have a reserve buoyancy of 3300 kg after fitting the equipment such as solar panels, battery packs and monitoring instrumentation, etc.
